The Valmeinier ski area offers 150 km of runs in the midst of the Maurienne valley. This ski area nestling between the Vanoise and Ecrins National Parks has something for all abilities. There are 83 ski trails at Valmeinier and 34 lifts service the slopes including 2 gondolas. There is a terrain park but we are not aware of any cross country skiing at Valmeinier.

    Reporting in real time on January 29: the conditions are very icy, and for beginners the resort is not good. The scenery is beautiful, but what little “powder” there is soon swept away, largely by snowboarders (sorry, but it’s true) and even greens are too icy to handle easily.
