Been visiting Valmorel since 2019. Great intermediate to beginner resort linked to St Francois Longchomp via the famous Col de la Madeleine. Most of the skiing is between 1600m and 2300m so I've found it to be relatively ski sure, with only the runs to both Doucy and Valmorel villages requiring snow making assistance in poorer seasons, snow canons coverage is pretty extensive below 2000m. Valmorel village is very pretty, adopting chalet type architecture, despite it being a purpose built resort, and has a friendly laid back vibe. The skiing is quite diverse with some gentle greens and blues on the Valmorel, Doucy, Charmette and St Fran sides, with some great reds and blues around the Col De la Madeleine; the red off the top of Lauzierre down to CDM is particularly good as are all 4 runs back to Valmorel from the CDM. A good intermediate could probably cover the whole area in 3 days. Not much for expert skiers , there are a couple of blacks that are quite steep and narrow but these are mainly challenging as they are left un-pisted. Cheaper than the neighboring three valleys and generally less busy (we always avoid Feb French holidays). Seems to be quite up and coming as there have been quite a few new hotels added in the last few years and new bubble and chairlift additions to increase capacity. Would highly recommend for beginners and intermediates.

We stayed at Les Granges aux Fees (CGH); brand new apartments in Valmorel. Ski in/out within 10 meters of the lift with swimming pool, saunas, steam rooms and gym on ground floor. Great quality; excellent for families.

Just been staying at Valmorel. It is our fourth season and we have already booked for next year! That´s how much we enjoy to stay at Valmorel! We buy our holidays at Skitotal and all is going well: travel, ski renting, food, accommodation, etc.. Just love it!

We stayed at Valmorel for 1 week. We had an excellent stay at the brand new Club Med resort! Valmorel is a little village but very cosy. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. Club Med has a a children's club for babies through to teenagers. Qualified staff members with boundless enthusiasm ensure parents and children gain maximum benefit, guaranteeing happiness for children and peace of mind for parents. Located at the foot of the slopes, you can literally put on your gear in the ski room and ski from the door. We really recommend this place!!

Valmorel is a lovely family place to start the skiing holiday. Snow is sparse at the moment and can be a bit icy in places. The people are very friendly and helpful. Nice not to have the crowds and lots to do with the children and apres-ski. Would not recommend for advanced skiers only.

Stayed in Valmorel back in March 08 and had a great time in this savoyard sympathetic village. Skiing was great with some lovely runs in Valmorel itself plus some gentle off-piste on the La Frene run down to St Francois which was always great for blasting. Weather was a little variable this time of the year with a combination of snow and rain due to resort height of Valmorel but, overall, it's a great place for good mileage. Good 'apres' and living the dream.

This is a great resort and we have been at least once a year since 2003 with the children who have learnt to ski here The resort centre with no cars is so safe - The kids enjoy the sledge park or ice skating after skiing while there are enough bars to relax in after a hard day on the slopes Accommodation is basic but comfortable and we prefer the Le Morel apartments in the village centre which are ski in ski out (as is most of the resort) Fantastic skiing enough to keep all abilities happy, including our friends who board and not ski. Lots of cosy mountain restaurants offering a good range of food and beverages which are not too expensive Stop with the kids in the Igloo restaurant for lunch or hot chocolate, they will have a great time exploring the igloos

I thought Valmorel was a really pleasant ski resort. Snow fall was unforthcoming when I was there but if you're lucky you can ski down the main piste and through the high street! Lots of chalet style apartments some of which are large but pleasing to look at nonetheless. Nice place to walk around at night as the pistes pass right through the village and there is little light pollution. The village has a cozy romantic feel to it despite being purpose built. A snowy village so snow boots are a good idea. Ski to door anywhere in the village.

I learned to ski in Valmorel at the age of 39. The slopes are very forgiving for beginners but are also challenging for better skiers such as my partner who has been skiing since she was 17. A note of caution however, the Planchamp piste under the Altispace chairlift is quite steep for beginners and will take a little courage to tackle, but there is a blue run down to the right of it which is easier. Take a ski trip to Doucy for a coffee at the Blizzard cafe, looking back up the valley to Valmorel - fantastic easy cruising down a snow road. The pistes at the top of the Altispace chairlift are a playground for all skiers, but ladies beware the draglifts at the base of these pistes as they are very fierce on "take off". Take the chair if you are of a nervous disposition! Other than that, Valmorel is a lovely place, very quiet for families and couples. You can ski for hours then take Les Traverses home to the village in about 10 minutes. We have been twice and will return in the future. Give it a try for Christmas for the huge firework display.

This ski resort is very beautiful. Though it is smaller then, for example Val Thorens, it has similar facilities. There is a wide variety of slopes, so beginning skiers and boarders can also have al lot of fun. For the more experienced skier or boarder there are several difficult slopes. The village itself is very cozy. There are al lot of nice bars and restaurants. Overall, the resort is very good for both the beginning skier and boarder as well as the more experienced skier and boarder.
