Reviews on this resort seem few and far between, so hopefully, this will fill in the blanks First time here and first time in Spain, so a slightly different vibe. Like anywhere, when the snow is good, most shortcomings can be forgiven. We went early Feb 2026, and the snow was excellent. A few things to be aware of: It's a big ski area, but a lot of the slopes are only accessible by drag lifts. This includes Tuc de Costarjas, the 2 drags that get you to Cap de Baciver and the twin drags up to Tuc de Lianca. Off putting for boarders, but you should grin and bear it to access the better terrain. Few crowds, other than at the weekend, if the weather is good, when the Derra Reina lift in Beret gets very busy. Other than that, it's only really the area above Baqueira that gets crowded. Note that the lifts are prone to closure in high winds - just the one Gondala, and the older chairs around Argulls don't open on windy days. When it snows, when there's powder, there are some excellent and easily accessible off piste areas. Beret - get the Blandhiblar lift, head down the blue and cut off to the left of the piste. Or at the top of the Dossau lift, the pistes and off piste areas are excellent. Baqueira - try the 2 blacks at the top of the Cap de Baqueira - Muguet & Manaud. Or take the Argulls lift and head back off-piste on the left hand side. One major drawback is the surprising lack of mountain restaurants. Organising lunch is a strategic challenge. My advice is eat early in order to bag a spot. Bonaigua - don't bother. Quite an effort to get there, not worth it. 2 tips for the management a) you need a extra new chair at Beret, connecting it to the top of the Jesus lift b) Cap de Baqueira - a great spot for a large, self service restaurant.

Having our Febuary trip to Obertauern cancelled again due to Covid we booked a couple of cheap flights to Toulouse on 9th April and headed to Baquiera. Always had Pyranees as poor relation to Alps with a poorer snow record and earlier closing dates across the resorts. We packed our walking boots and set off. Couldn't have been more wrong, fantastic week's skiing all be it a bit slushy late on in the day. We were skiing back to bottom lift at Baquiera up to the last day (15th April). Lovely ski area and lift system, not a queue in sight all week. Suprisingly big ski area with well interlinked pistes with few roadway blues, which are always a pain. Stayed at Tuc Blanc hotel across road from gondola. Great location and brilliant food, lovely staff, highly recommend. Only negatives, no one speaks any English anywhere and there are no Brits barely anywhere, plus points to some - 910

To another reviewer: this website is run from the UK, not the United States. Also, could you tell me where Nebraska or Iowa are on a map without consulting an atlas first? Other than that, I agree that Baqueira Beret is awesome.

Funny to read the author of this website stating to be surprised that there is snow in Spain "giving its latitude". What did you expect to find in winter in a country that lies between 36º and 43º North..? coconuts ? Barcelona (41º 23') is further up north than New York is (40º 30'), yet he is surprised that there are good ski slopes in Spain.. :-) Ah, Americans, you'll definitely need to look at a world atlas one of these days. By the way, Baqueira Beret is awesome. [note from the editor: an error has been made at the beginning of this review. The "author of this website" has not expressed surprise that there is snow in Spain.}

Went with "Neilson" in February 2012 - impressive place with lots of blue and red runs. Wonderful views of the Pyrenees. No significant queues at lifts and gondola. No crowds! Stayed in "Tuc Blanc"- very pleasant hotel with very good food and service. Rather long transfer to the resort but quite similar to transfers to Andorra. Have skied in many places in Europe and USA. Baqueira/Beret is little known and definitely underrated amongst the European resorts. Will ski there again.

What´s new this season in Baqueira? A total of 6 Million € were invested of which 50 % went solely to the snow production in Baqueira Beret. 3 plows for preparing the slopes were added and 59 new snow cannons were installed on the North side of the ski area. A whole lake was built new to increase the snow production.

There´s nothing you can´t do in Val D´Aran. Everything from Classics such as Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, Nordic Skiing to something more special such as Heliski, Snowshoeing and Telemark Skiing. To round the range of snow activities off, Snowmobile Tours, Horse Sleds and Mushing (Husky drawn sleds) Tours are offered as well. You can find more information at the Tourism Offices in Vielha, Salardú and Arties.

We ski in Baqueira (Baqueira/Beret) since more than 20 years ago. The resort is the best in Spain, including Andorra, and the atmosphere is fantastic. We used to go to different hotels in Baqueira, but since four years ago we try to rent an apartment or a house for all the family. I recommend feelfreerentals.com, high standard apartments and much cheaper than any hotel.
